چکیده

Background: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a common surgical method used for the treatment of renal calculi. Post-operative pain due to dilatation capsule, parenchymal tract and peritubal distressing nephrostomy tube. Addition ultrasound guided paravertebral block multimodal postoperative analgesic regimen after general anaesthesia can achieve adequate somatic visceral sensory blockade provide post op cover PCNL. Methods: It was randomized controlled study where 60 ASA I II patients scheduled elective PCNL surgery were divided into 2 groups 30 each, group P N. Both underwent under anaesthesia. After conclusion surgery, given single level at T9-T10 on operated side using 10 ml 0.25% bupivacaine while N did not receive surgery. Results: VAS score, time first rescue analgesic, number analgesics in post-operative period significant compared Conclusions: thoracic para vertebral significantly provides effective analgesia, reduces requirements intravenous opioids, maintains stable hemodynamics, improves respiratory mechanics lowers incidence chronic pain.

Comparative Evaluation of Continuous Thoracic Paravertebral Block and Thoracic Epidural Analgesia Techniques for Post-operative Pain Relief in Patients Undergoing Open Nephrectomy: A Prospective, Randomized, Single-blind Study

BACKGROUND Open surgical procedures are associated with substantial postoperative pain; an alternative method providing adequate pain relief with minimal side effects is very much required. AIM The aim of this study was a comparative evaluation of the efficacy of continuous thoracic paravertebral block (PVB) and thoracic epidural analgesia (EA) for postoperative pain relief in patients underg...

Post-operative analgesia following total knee arthroplasty: comparison of low-dose intrathecal morphine and single-shot ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block: a randomized, single blinded, controlled study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Total knee arthroplasty often results in marked postoperative pain. A recent meta-analysis supports the use of femoral nerve block or alternatively spinal injection of morphine plus local anaesthetic for post-operative analgesia. On the other hand, the use of intrathecal morphine may be associated with a large number of distressing side effects (itching, urinary retent...
